Look, the music business demands work. Effort. It is not all cocktails and glitter in your eyes. Spidercat have taken the path of least resistance to a place of inexplicable inactivity. Their YouTube video is autogenerated for them and only has 4 views. There sounds to be a singer, bass player, guitarist and drummer in the band, so that is only one view each. That is fucking slack. Lamentable. Pathetic. It leaves ample room for improvement.
But, here is the thing. The song is a gem. A sliver of beautiful anarchic foolishness. The words are naked. When the guitar and drums come in it feels exhilarating. Nothing is overplayed. Nothing disappoints.
These people spent too long listening to psychedelia. More time than they spent on songwriting. More time than they did watching their own YouTube videos. Their research was not wasted.
There is a slight scent of Robin Hitchcock but not in a bad way.
If these fuckers ever discover a work ethic they will conquer the world.
